keep on trucking in February

What a long January it was this year! So much happening. Speaking of which:

proceeds from this pin back button (and the sticker version) go directly to mutual aid efforts in occupied areas

We've had some very cold temperatures here in mid-Michigan in recent weeks, but we've also had a relative lot of sunshine, which is such a saving grace! I like to bundle up and go for a walk in the cold, but when it's -15F, windy, and snowing, that desire ceases to exist even in me. Luckily there are plenty of indoor entertainments, and I can always jump around while listening to some music a little too loud.

One of my day-job work sites is nestled in a building with quite a few things going on, and this week a chef colleague had baked brownies for a program he was doing and shared the edge pieces with staff - to me, the edge pieces are the best part! I wrapped mine up (wearing a mask at work, of course, so no eating on site), brought it home, split it with my spouse, heated it up, and had it with some vanilla ice cream. So good!

I mentioned mutual aid for folks in occupied areas up above, and wanted to include a link in case anyone reading this has a little bit to spare and wants to send it to a good cause: https://www.standwithminnesota.com/

By the way, I noticed that my security suite (supplied by our internet-provider) indicated that this URL is suspicious. This feels like fodder for a conspiracy theory, but maybe not, considering how many big corporations have a vested interest in fascism. I safely visited the site and I do not have reason to think it is actually suspicious.

Something I've been appreciating again recently is the music of Duran Duran. I was a huge fan as an elementary school student and revisiting their live double album Arena has been a source of joy for me (it may not be their best work - I think the slicker studio albums are probably a better showcase of the group at their peak, but I replayed this one on our family record player many, many times and it's embedded in my memory, with all the little live quirks). Shoutout to my pal Amanda who I think may have introduced me to this band back in the day! Those disco bass lines and new romantic style are still so appealing to me.

Take care of each other out there!
