August has arrived

It's August! Time is whooshing by as usual, though lately the whooshing is accompanied by the smell of wildfire smoke and the unmistakable reek of all the jerks who refuse to accept that we all share the same environment. Those creeps can get lost for real.

Big thanks to anyone who shared my wholesale link with shops in your area! The Faire Market I mentioned last month went really well for me with several new customers and I am so grateful to everyone who supports my art!

We recently got a patio umbrella, so I can be shaded at all times while enjoying the back patio (unless wildfire smoke is making it un-breath-able out there). I am a huge fan of breezes - they have really become a passion for me as I have eased into middle age and I cannot resist them! Seems like a weird/small thing to get excited about, but have you taken a moment to enjoy one? They're SO GOOD. I feel offended on their behalf that wildfire smoke/climate change is sullying their good name.

My pal Kristin said this recently and it just stuck in my head - had to draw/hand letter it. This chipmunk is internet famous but I used it as a reference to draw from anyway. Hopefully said chipmunk is off enjoying nature and avoiding the humans who so clearly cause it to feel such disgust.

Another internet famous animal here, this time it's Monster who belongs to a family of cool people who make things (and share photos of Monster online). One of Coraline's meds recently put her off peanut butter, so now cheese has become the vehicle of choice to get her to take the ones that don't taste good on their own. More than once a day at our house, it's time to cheese the dog.

Corabor is doing okay these days despite being 14 and plagued with a variety of age-related maladies. She takes a whole host of meds and doesn't mind it at all. She does have a new habit of waking up in the middle of the night and refusing to settle down unless we deploy enforced snuggling, which means the humans in our house are perpetually a little (or a lot) tired. But she is our beloved girl and she can't help it, so we will put up with whatever her days bring us.

A few of my friends are fans of hairless cats, and one just welcomed a new cat to her home and provided the inspiration for this drawing via the photos she shared. This is Dottie - congrats, Chelsea! (If you're reading this before it arrives, the physical print is en route to you right now.)

Later this month, I will be at the Market for the Arts in downtown Mount Pleasant - please come see me! Even if you don't want to buy any art (though you should at least take a look at what everyone has to offer before deciding), there will be a lot of fun happenings, including live music and more, and I'd love it if you even just came by to say hello!

I'll be there all three days:
Friday August 22 3-9pm (night market!)
Saturday August 23 9-6pm
Sunday August 24 10-3pm

Here's hoping it will be beautiful days that feel like fall is just around the corner. (Gimme that gentle breeze!) And I'd love to see you there!

And it's a new month which means a new patreon reward sticker.

I hope you are well going into August.
